First look: photos taken with the Nokia Lumia 1020

Nokia has finally unveiled the long-awaited Lumia 1020, the first Window Phone device from the company to incorporate the huge 41-megapixel sensor from last year's PureView 808.
These photographs, which are the first to be taken on the new camera, demonstrate (under best-case scenarios) the sort of pictures you can expect to see when using the camera yourself.
Along with the massive sensor, the camera has Carl Zeiss optics, six lenses and a rear-facing Xenon flash. Combined with the new photography app, Pro Camera, the 1020 is capable of taking 7,712x5,360-pixel resolution shots.

The camera combines seven pixels in every one in a process Nokia calls "oversampling", to guarantee it captures a high level of detail. The phone will then save two versions of every image shot -- one at full resolution, one at a five-megapixel resolution for sharing with friends.
Windows Phone doesn't yet offer the same array of photography apps as Apple's App Store and Google Play, but Nokia compensates for this with its own range of built-in filters and photography tools, which Lumia 1020 owners will be able to take advantage of.
