Study: solar 'tsunami' gives insight into Sun's magnetic field

Two solar "tsunamis", travelling across the Sun at over a million kilometres per hour, have been used to measure the Sun's magnetic field.

Thought to be caused when the surface of the Sun explodes matter out into space -- events known as coronal mass ejections (CMEs) -- solar tsunamis are waves of ionised gas and magnetic field distortions that travel through the Sun's atmosphere, or corona, sometimes covering the Sun in less than an hour.

By measuring how the tsunami travelled across the Sun, a team from University College London was able to record the strength of the Sun's magnetic field. The research, due to be published in Solar Physics, could help us better understand CMEs, which can disrupt satellites and power grids on Earth.
Although the interior of the Sun is thought to have an extremely powerful magnetic field, the team found that the magnetic field in its atmosphere is about ten times weaker than a fridge magnet.

 Solar tsunamis, also known as "EIT Waves" after the telescope that first detected them in 1997, are notoriously difficult to spot. They propagate radially out from a point on the Sun's surface where a coronal mass ejection has taken place.

"They're only visible when the Sun is quiet," says lead author David Long. "If the Sun is quite active, they're very difficult to spot" as they become hidden by the huge amount of radiation emanating from the Sun.
Even when the Sun is quiet, "you have to look at the right time, in the right place, and have everything going for you," he says.

In 2007 and 2010, Japan's Hinode spacecraft and Nasa's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) did indeed have everything going for them.
Long and his colleagues used the data from the two tsunami events recorded by Hinode and SDO to track the change in velocity and acceleration of the tsunamis.

The way a wave travels can tell you something about the thing it's travelling through. For example, sound travels faster in water than in air, so we can deduce that water is denser than air. For these solar tsunamis, the waves are travelling through the Sun's magnetic field, so if they accelerate or slow down, that tells you something about the density and therefore strength of the magnetic field.
"By looking at how [the waves] deform," says Long. "We can measure the strength of the Sun's magnetic field".
 As the solar tsunamis may be directly caused by CMEs, Long hopes that the research will help our understanding of CMEs, potentially helping us reduce the impact on Earth of explosions of solar matter.

But there are horses for courses, and for considerably less cash, you can get some very good devices without too much compromise on capability and performance.
Nokia Lumia 925

The latest big beast in Nokia's formidable army of Lumia handsets packs in just about every trick that both Nokia and Windows can throw at it, putting it in direct competition with the likes of the iPhone and  Samsung's Galaxy S4.
It has a thinner, lighter casing than its predecessor the 920, despite a move from plastic to aluminium. The 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ Amoled touchscreen offers a beautifully sharp resolution of 1,280x768 pixels and offers strikingly vivid colours supported by deeply contrasting blacks.

It has a dual-core 1.5GHz processor rather than the quad-core type modelled by some of the more advanced Google smartphones, but it operates with an impressive smoothness, due in part to the streamlined OS which has so far resisted customisation from manufacturers. Apps open with impressive speed and web browsing is almost as fast as thought.
The camera has been beefed up with an 8.7-megapixel PureView model. It has the biggest arsenal of extras of any Nokia phone, including City Lens, which allows you to view the scene around you augmented with business and tourist information.
The 2,000mAh battery held up very well too delivering a good day and a half of regular use, better than we've come to expect from most high-end smartphones.
As with other Nokia Windows phones you get 7GB of free cloud storage via SkyDrive and a range of extras including HERE Maps and satnav, as well as Nokia Music which offers free downloadable playlists of tunes. Unfortunately, you're stuck with the 16GB onboard memory as there's no option to expand it via microSD card.


HTC Windows Phone 8X

HTC has impressed with its wide (very wide) range of Google handsets, but the Taiwanese manufacturer has also dipped its toe in Windows waters, notably with this high-ender.
Known to its chums as the Windows 8X, it features a 4.3-inch super LCD screen with a resolution of 1,280x720 pixels, considerably better than its little Windows brother,  the 8S's four-inch 800x480.
There's no sign of the Sense customisation that HTC has brought to its  Android phones (Windows won't let anyone mess with the programme at this stage) but its notably different from Nokia phones simply because it doesn't have the HERE Maps and Nokia Music extras.

The dual-core 1.5GHz processor is nippy enough (all these Windows phones seem fast in comparison with similarly specced Androids) but like most Windows phones, there's no option to expand the 16GB memory via microSD card.
As usual with HTC, the camera is a bit of a let-down. It has eight megapixels and includes autofocus and an LED flash as well as a wide-angle lens option, but doesn't deliver the same basic pic quality as any of its Nokia rivals. There's also a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls -- Skype and other video calling apps are now available from the Marketplace.
The 1,800mAh battery did a reasonable job but didn't distinguish itself above the charge-every-day pack.


Coming in below the 925 in the Lumia hierarchy, the 820 knocks a couple of hundred quid off the price while still maintaining a very good set of features.
It has a similarly robust build and shape (all-plastic this time though, with changeable back covers) as its pricier cousin but the display reveals its midrange ambitions. With a sub-HD 800x480 pixel resolution it's noticeably less sharp, though it still looks vibrant and dynamic.

It's still a very fast handset too, with its dual-core 1.5GHz processor backed by a full 1GB RAM -- the same as you get on the 925. Unless you're used to the highest-end Androids, this is one of the key features of Windows phones -- you just don't have the same amount of hanging around waiting for apps to open.
The eight-megapixel camera is a step down from the 925's 8.7-megapixel model but it's certainly no slouch, delivering sharp and detailed pics on its automatic settings, plus there are plenty of extras to play with as well as the ever-growing list of Windows 'Lenses' which add extra functionality.
Unlike the 925 however, the 820 allows you to expand its 8GB of onboard memory by up to 64GB via microSD card. If you're fond of your HD videos and hi-res audio this is a major consideration for Windows phones, many of which don't offer memory expansion.
Battery-wise the 820's 1,650mAh power pack didn't distinguish itself, though you should be able to rely on a good day of regular use without having to worry.


Skipping out the next-in-line  720, the Lumia 620 offers a competitive spec and a considerably lower price without compromising too much on the features.
Something you can't do with the pricier Lumias is open the case. With the 620 you can and there is a range of bright colours to choose from to match your personal style -- green, yellow, pink and blue, as well as standard black or white.
The 3.8-inch display is smaller than the 720's 4.3-incher but it's actually a little sharper since it offers the same pixel resolution -- 800x480.

The dual-core processor is clocked at 1.5GHz but while it's noticeably a little slower than its more expensive cousins, it's very smooth and slick in operation so that you barely notice the very slight delay while apps open.
It has most of the Nokia extras you'll find on more expensive handsets, including HERE Maps and satnav and Nokia Music, though it doesn't have the City Lens augmented reality feature for the camera.
The five-megapixel camera may not match more expensive Nokias but it still has a Carl Zeiss Tessar lens and outperforms many similarly specced Android cameras.

 In common with just a few Windows Phones, it allows you to expand its built-in memory, and you can add microSD cards up to 64GB to boost its onboard capacity of 8GB.

Review nokia Lumia 620

The revamped Windows Phone operating system has been doing its bit to dispel Nokia's waning image, as is the wide and varied colour scheme of the new Lumia 620, a lower end Windows Phone 8 handset that comes with a range of retina-searing coloured cases.

It's on sale now for around £220, which means it's competing with the likes of the HTC Windows Phone 8S and lower end Androids like the Orange San Diego, HTC Desire C and Sony Xperia Miro.

Design
The all-plastic case is a bit of a faff to get off -- you have to push down on the camera lens while pulling up on the bottom edge -- but if you can be bothered, you get the chance to switch between a variety of bright colours, with yellow, lime green, cyan, magenta, orange, white and yes, black, all on the menu. Each also has a different colour on the inside, so you get a two-tone effect around the screen when you clip it on.

It feels sturdy enough though (that workhorse ethic comes in handy sometimes) and the bright, glossy colour schemes will certainly help it stand out among the forest of black slabs on the table when you meet up with your mates.
In contrast to some of the minimalist handsets we've been looking at recently there seems to be a surfeit of buttons, with a volume rocker, camera shutter and power/sleep button all on one side. That's your lot though, with the only other extras a microUSB power/sync slot at the bottom and a 3.5mm headphone jack on top.

 Screen quality and performance
A single sheet of glass covers the front, with the three Windows buttons (start, back and search) beneath the 3.8-inch touchscreen. That's a fair bit smaller than the Lumia 820's 4.3-inch or the 920's 4.5-inch. It's just about big enough to do all the things smartphones should -- like providing a good-sized onscreen keyboard and enough space to pinch-to-zoom, but you wouldn't really want it any smaller. It offers a resolution of 800x480 pixels -- certainly not up there with the HD best but none too shabby for all that. It's bright and vibrant, and has no problem sharply rendering small text and photos online. The ClearBlack filter also apparently helps cut down on glare, giving it an even better appearance.

 The dual-core 1GHz processor is backed by 512MB RAM, which is decent enough, but a long way from the quad-core power of the Google Nexus 4 or HTC One X+. As a result, it's efficient, with occasional signs of lag, without that "just think it and make it so" aspect of the fastest handsets. Still, the dual-core power is pretty impressive for a lower-end handset, and it doesn't let the side down. Our AnTutu performance benchmark test turned in a result of 7,266, which puts it on a par with the HTC Windows 8S in terms of raw power.

 Cameras and image quality
The 5-megapixel camera has an LED flash, autofocus as well as touch focus and a range of scene settings. As with other Windows 8 handsets, all the available functionality isn't built in, but you can add different "lenses" from the Windows Store -- so far, there are about 50 available, and most of them are free. Smart Shoot lets you take five shots in quick succession so you can choose your favourite, Panorama does what it says on the tin and Bing Vision scans barcodes, QR codes, book, DVD and CD covers for searching.

 Picture quality isn't bad -- you can get nicely crisp images with sharp edges but colour balance tends to be a little off, with a bit too much saturation and it struggles a little with detail both indoors and out. It can record video at 720p HD resolution and the VGA camera on the front makes a decent fist of rendering your features for video calls.

 Extra features
Even in this price bracket, you can't say that Nokia skimps on features. Extras include a Groupon app, which searches your local area (or wherever you happen to be) for special deals and offers. There's also the Nokia City Lens augmented reality app, which uses the phone's camera to flag up local info and allow you to easily call businesses or tag them for later. Cleverly, you can tilt your phone to take you from street to map view, and get a better look at what's available locally.


You also get the full Office suite for creating and editing Word, Excel and PowerPoint docs and NFC's on board too, so you're ready for tags and mobile payments, though there's no wireless charging option like you get with the higher end Lumias.
Nokia Drive offers free sat nav based on Nokia Maps, which isn't quite the full Google shilling, but seems to make a better fist of it than Apple's effort did, and Nokia Music gives you free online access to an awful lot of music which you can also download.


It comes with a rather generous (for the price) 8GB of memory on board, and you can boost that by a further 64GB via microSD card if you feel the need.
The 1,300mAh battery isn't exceptional but it seemed to do a decent enough job nonetheless, keeping the Lumia 620 going for a good day and a half of steady use.

Fasterfox adalah sebuah add on yang berfungsi untuk mempercepat koneksi dengan melakukan optimasi pada network dan cache browser. Untuk memakai Google Web Accelerator anda harus memenuhi kriteria antara lain Operating system harus windows XP atau windows 2000 dan browser nya harus (minimal) IE 5.5+ atau Mozilla Firefox 1.0+. kalau untuk browser lain juga bisa tetapi harus menkonfigurasi proxy settingsnya dari browser anda dengan menambah 127.0.0.1:9-100 pada HTTP. Setelah melakukan instalasi, Google web accelerator akan menampilkan icon kecil di atas browser dan icon tray di pojok bawah layar desktop.

Untuk cara Setting Browser, silakan ikuti cara2 ini:

1. Di address bar mozzila ketik about:config kemudian akan terlihat tulisan yang banyak sekali

2. Gunakan fasilitan ctrl+f untuk mencari kata, kata yang di cari adalah sebagai berikut dan di rubah

* Network.http.pipelining; False <– klik 2 kali ubah “False” menjadi “True“
* Network.http.pipelining.maxrequests; 4 <-- klik 2 kali ubah “4” menjadi “30“
* Network.http.proxy.pipelining; False <– klik 2 kali ubah “False” menjadi “True“

3. Kemudian klik kanan di bagian yang kosong/putih terus pilih new terus integer lalu kolom pertama isikan nglayout.initialpaint.delay lalu tekan enter satu kali dan masukan angka 0 dan tekan enter kembali.

Atau lebih sederhananya jika kita inging mengambil sesuatu yang ada di Amerika maka kita harus pergi sendiri ke Amerika.

Terbayangkan oleh kita bergitu rumitnya perjalanan yang kita lewati, begitu banyaknya hambatan yang kita hadapi. Begitupun dunia networking. Teknik tunneling sama halnya dengan teknik pengiriman barang dengan bantuan kurir. Jika kita akan mengirim atau mengambil barang ke Amerika maka kita tidak perlu melakukannya sendiri, biarlah jasa kurir yang melakukan semua kerumitan dan hambatan yang dihadapi agar barang tadi bisa sampai ke tujuan.

Begitupun tunneling, pada saat kita mengakses sebuah halaman webiste maka komputer kita hanya akan meminta bantuan sebuah server untuk menyampaikan dan mengambil halaman demi halaman website yang kita tuju. Selain itu server tunnel akan mengkompresi data yang kita butuhkan, karena itulah koneksi internet kita secara keseluruhan akan meningkat.

Sederhanakan? Tapi kemudian muncul pertanyaan, apakah bisa hal tersebut gratis? Bisa ya bisa tidak. Sekarang sudah banyak server tunnel yang menyediakan fasilitas ini, misal Nitro, Toonel(dot)Net, TrafficCompressor, OnSpeed dan masih banyak yang lainnya. Gratiskah mereka? Jelas tidak, kecepatan yang mereka tawarkan harus ditebus dengan muahal alias berbayar. Lalu buat apa saya menulis ini? Ya karena saya ingin berbagi server tunnel yang GRATIS. Baik mari kita bahas cara menghubungkan komputer kita ke server tunnel yang gratis, tapi ada beberapa hal yang harus diperhatikan sebelum membahas.

1. Komputer anda harus terkoneksi dengan internet.
2. Teknik tunnel ini cocok bagi yang menggunakan koneksi internet dengan fasilitas GPRS, tapi bisa juga untuk jenis koneksi lain.
3. Harus sudah terpasang software tunneling, misal putty, silahkan anda download pada bagian sebelah kanan blog (DEHAFILE).

Ikuti langkahnya :

1. Download PuTTY , lihat link sebelah kanan (DEHAFILE)
2. Ekstrak menggunakan WinRAR dan simpan PuTTY.exe pada C:WINDOWS
3. Biarkanlah PuTTY tidur disana, tidak usah diaktifkan
4. Klik Start Menu => Run dan masukan “putty -P 222 -N -D 9999 -C net@cepat.abangadek.com” tanpa tanda petik (”) setelah itu jendela DOS akan terbuka.
5. Pada saat diminta password, ketikan “cepat123” tanpa tanda petik (”) dan Enter, tapi jangan heran pada saat memasukan password anda tidak melihat apapun, makanya anda harus hati-hati memasukan password, jika salah maka PuTTY akan memberitahu anda, jika salah lagi maka PuTTY akan terminate (close). Jika setelah memasukan password PuTTY tidak ada reaksi (kursor hanya turun) maka anda sudah betul
6. Arahkan agar browser menggunakan SOCKS proxy di localhost, port 9999 (lihat gambar dibawah)
